Julian Lennon na stronie poświęconej matce www.cynthialennon.memorial powiadomił, że Cynthia przegrała walkę z chorobą nowotworową.

W oświadczeniu czytamy:
Cynthia Lennon odeszła dzisiaj w swoim domu w Mallorce w Hiszpanii po krótkiej, ale dzielnej walce z rakiem. Jej syn Julian Lennon był przy niej w momencie śmierci. Jej rodzina dziękuje za wasze modlitwy. Prosimy o uszanowanie ich prywatności w tym trudnym okresie.

Syn Cynthii napisał piosenkę dedykowaną mamie:
